I bought the Kindle version of Marmion, a great story of the Battle of Flodden Field fought long ago in the year 1513. Easier to read than most poetry even with the British English. Walter Scott's Marmion (published in 1808) is filled with unrequited love, deceit and conspiracy, I recommend it for a great read.

Marmion Walter Scott 9785518966277 Books Reviews

Wanted to read a particular poem but forgot how unbelievably violent most of Scott's works were....due
doubtless to the violent times he lived and wrote about. Read Marmion....fast....only poem I really like
is Lochinvar!
This is the other Scott poem (along with Lady of the Lake) in which Scott writes a good yarn.
Nearly half of the text is missing. Probably better to go with a reputable publisher.
If poet's still wrote like this I wouldn't hate modern poetry.
good read
It's the tale of James IV battle against the English at Flodden Field told from the point of view of a miscreant knight, Baron Marmion. Though brave and bold he was, his poor behavior to women is not up to the standards of chivalry. And so he dies despite his being on the winning (English) side.
